As a kid, I was very determined to be a trumpet player. In 4th grade, on the day our band director demonstrated each instrument, she produced amzing sound on tenor sax.

When my Mom took me to the music shop for "a sax with a curved neck" they were expensive. My Mom felt that it would be smart to start out with a used alto sax, to see if I would stick with it, before making such an investment. We left the shop with a used alto, a vintage Conn. Even though it wasn't shiny and new, it turned out to have great sound as I learned to play it.

Thankfully, Mom hooked me up with private lessons. What I remember most from my first lesson is the importance of a good mouthpiece and quality reeds. We left the shop that day with the recommended mouthpiece and reeds. I played that mouthpiece for many, many years.

During my college years at Michigan Technologica University, my passion for playing saxophone was renewed. My favorite classes were in music. Learning about Jazz improvisation and playing in the ETYAWTKAJBWATA Jazz band was a fun and memorable experience.
I was invited to join Double Scale 2001. The members of the band are talented musicians and a pleasure to work with. Being a member of Double Scale continues to be a great experience.

In April of 2006, I bought myself a present that I've wanted since 4th grade, a tenor sax. After much research and play testing, I selected a Julius Keilwerth SX90R Shadow Tenor sax.
